To make a day of it

Manoir de la Hautière (trois vieilles maisons constituant l'ancien) stands in Nantes (Loire-Atlantique), in the Pays de la Loire region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 16th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

In the Chantenay district of Nantes, this small seigneurial manor brings together three adjoining houses built in granite, schist and tuffeau stone, with the oldest sections dating back to the late 14th century. Its east-facing façade, pierced by fifteen irregularly placed openings, and the hexagonal tower on the west side reflect building work spread across several centuries. Over time the site served as a lordly residence, a Revolutionary-era prison, a bourgeois property and later an exhibition venue, a history still legible in its patchwork architecture.
