Château du Bouffay stands in Nantes (Loire-Atlantique), in the Pays de la Loire region of France. No visits are on record for this building.
The château du Bouffay no longer stands: it was Nantes's earliest stronghold, raised in the 10th century by Alain Barbetorte on the site of a Gallo-Roman fortification, before being overtaken by the château des ducs de Bretagne. Over the centuries it housed a prison, a court of justice and the revolutionary tribunal, until it was torn down during the 1843 urban works. No visible remains survive, though its memory lives on in the Bouffay district and the square bearing its name.
