In Les Trois-Moutiers, in the Vienne department, the manor of Champdoiseau stands as a 15th-century quadrangular building flanked by two uneven towers, one round, one hexagonal. The round tower still bears a row of corbels, remnants of former machicolations, while the hexagonal tower houses a spiral staircase reached through a doorway carved with ogee arches and cabbage-leaf motifs. Inside, four 15th-century fireplaces remain on the first floor, and the roof timberwork, shaped like an inverted hull, covers three further hearths. The estate passed successively through the Odart, Téligny and Sainte-Marthe families, the latter producing several scholars and clergymen.
