To make a day of it

Malouinière Le Puits Sauvage stands in Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine), in the Bretagne region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 18th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

In Saint-Malo, in the hamlet of Saint-Étienne, this 18th-century manor house illustrates the way of life of the shipowners and privateers who grew wealthy through maritime trade. The main house, arranged around a square courtyard with its outbuildings, has kept noble rooms with original wood paneling along with family furniture and documents. The estate also holds an 18th-century horse pool and a greenhouse housing a cactus collection built up over two centuries by the same family.
