To make a day of it

Domaine de la Malmaison stands in Rueil-Malmaison (Hauts-de-Seine), in the Île-de-France region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 17th century, 18th century, 19th century, first quarter of the 20th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The Château de Malmaison, in Rueil-Malmaison, owes its fame to Joséphine de Beauharnais, who bought it in 1799 and made it, together with Bonaparte, the effective seat of government during the Consulate, keeping it after their divorce. Built in the 17th century for the Perrot family and later enlarged by the Barentin family, the interiors were reworked under the Empire by Percier and Fontaine. Visitors today see the rooms linked to the Napoleonic era, still bearing the mark of that period of power.
