To make a day of it

Wildburg (Treis-Karden) stands in Treis-Karden (Landkreis Cochem-Zell), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

Wildburg Castle rises on a wooded spur above the confluence of the Flaumbach and Dünnbach streams, close to Treis Castle which faces it across the same ridge. Built around 1235 by the Lords of Wildenberg, it was destroyed by French troops in 1689 and later partially rebuilt from 1956 onward by a private industrialist. The Romanesque hall, whose outer walls had survived almost intact, was given a new roof and interior, while the nearly square keep and gate tower were raised and restored.
