To make a day of it

Wasserburg Flechtingen stands in Flechtingen (Landkreis Börde), in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The Wasserburg Flechtingen stands at the center of the village of Flechtingen, beside a pond fed by the Spetze stream, in Saxony-Anhalt. Built in the early 14th century by the Schenck von Dönstedt family, it still retains its keep, the foundations of the main hall, and the outer bailey buildings despite repeated remodeling. Originally a defensive stronghold, it became a hunting residence from the 15th century onward and was later enlarged and refined over successive generations, including the laying out of a landscape park in the 19th century. The site still reflects this long sequence of building campaigns, from medieval fortress to pleasure residence.
