To make a day of it

Schloss Detzel stands in Haldensleben (Landkreis Börde), in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Schloss Detzel is a hunting lodge set within a wooded oak park north of Haldensleben. Built in 1844, it is attributed to Carl Friedrich Schinkel and was commissioned by Baron Hermann von Bonin, owner of the Detzel estate. Its irregular ground plan, pronounced cornices and octagonal tower give it a distinctly romantic, almost playful outline. Some original interior features survive, including an octagonal room with wooden paneling and a tower chamber with an eight-part timber ribbed vault.
