To make a day of it
Struvenburg stands in Landkreis Harz (Landkreis Harz), in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.
The Struvenburg is a former hilltop fortification of which only earthworks and ditches survive, on a limestone ridge east of Benzingerode in the Harz district. Its exact origins remain unclear: archaeological finds suggest occupation from the Carolingian period, and possibly an even earlier site used during the Neolithic and Bronze Age. The outlines of two adjoining rectangular enclosures can still be traced in the ground, one likely serving as an outer bailey and the other as the main stronghold. The site is visited today as a place for walking and viewing earthwork remains, with no standing structures preserved.
