To make a day of it
Schloss Wackerbarth stands in Radebeul (Landkreis Meißen), in Saxony, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Adult admission costs 17 EUR. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Wackerbarth stands among vineyards on a hillside in Radebeul, between Dresden and Meissen. Built in the early eighteenth century as a retirement estate for a Saxon field marshal, the baroque complex now houses the Saxon State Wine Estate. Visitors can see both the historic buildings and the modern wine and sparkling wine production facility, surrounded by vine plots showing the cultivated grape varieties through the seasons.
What to know
- The estate is above all a working vineyard site, offering tastings and sales of its own wine and sparkling wine.
- The wine and sparkling wine production can be seen along a glass-walled visitor route through the modern facility.
- Part of the site is outdoors on sloping vineyard land, so sturdy footwear is advisable.
- A restaurant occupies one of the listed farm buildings on the eastern side of the estate.
- The elevated belvedere on the grounds is also used for wedding ceremonies.
