Schloss Seußlitz stands on the right bank of the Elbe at Nünchritz, on the site of a Poor Clares convent founded in 1268 by Margrave Henry the Illustrious. Its present appearance, a baroque three-wing complex, dates from the 1720s, when chancellor Heinrich von Bünau had the former monastery rebuilt, with the documented involvement of George Bähr, the architect of Dresden's Frauenkirche. The estate also includes a baroque terraced garden, the garden pavilion known as Heinrichsburg and the vineyard pavilion Luisenburg, set among the vine-covered slopes above the valley. The park, open to the public, lies within a protected riverside natural area along the Elbe.
