Schloss Oberau stands in Niederau (Landkreis Meißen), in Saxony, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Oberau stands in Niederau, Saxony, surrounded by its water moat, making it one of the oldest surviving moated castles in the region. Its present appearance is the result of successive building phases, from the medieval defensive tower to the neo-Gothic additions of the 19th century, passing through the Renaissance wing commissioned by the von Miltitz family. A knight's relief from the late 16th century still survives, along with a stair tower topped by a cone-shaped finial. King Charles XII of Sweden stayed here several times during the Great Northern War, in the early 18th century.
