To make a day of it

Schloss Schönau (Bad Säckingen) stands in Bad Säckingen (Landkreis Waldshut), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Schloss Schönau stands in Bad Säckingen on the banks of the Rhine, built for Hans Kaspar von Schönau between 1600 and 1680. Also known as the Trompeterschlösschen, it lost two of its original four corner towers during later alterations, while a new tower was added at the centre of the south-west front. Since 1938 the building has housed the Hochrheinmuseum, dedicated to the history of the town and the Hochrhein-Hotzenwald region, with holdings ranging from prehistoric archaeology to a notable collection of trumpets. A park extends south of the building, planted with old trees and marked by statues recalling the epic poem by Joseph Victor von Scheffel that gave the schloss its nickname.
