Schloss Niederfüllbach stands in the Landkreis Coburg, in Bavaria, on the foundations of a medieval fortress first recorded in 1317 and destroyed during the Thirty Years' War. The present building, erected at the end of the 17th century, owes its fame to Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, later the first King of the Belgians, who bought it in 1819 and extended it with a second wing. In private ownership since 1966, the building still follows the layout inherited from that princely period despite a serious fire in 1957.
