Nymphenburg Palace lies in Neuhausen-Nymphenburg, west of central Munich, and served as the summer residence of the Wittelsbach electors and kings of Bavaria. Begun as a modest 17th-century pavilion, the building grew over two centuries into a long three-wing complex flanked by a semicircle of smaller pavilions.
