To make a day of it
Schloss Biederstein stands in München (München), in Bavaria, Germany. Recorded dating: 18th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Biederstein no longer stands: the name refers to a former palace complex of two buildings, the Old and the New Schloss, once located in Munich's Schwabing district, north of the Kleinhesseloher See, within today's Englischer Garten. Built in the early 18th century as a modest manor house, the Old Schloss later became the widow's residence of Queen Caroline of Bavaria, while the New Schloss was erected in the 1820s to designs by Leo von Klenze. Both buildings are gone, one demolished in 1934, the other destroyed in the war and cleared away in 1945, and a student housing estate now occupies the grounds. Only a few remains, a gate with pillars and a caretaker's house, can still be seen on site.
