The Schloss Blutenburg stands on a small island encircled by the arms of the Würm river, in Pasing-Obermenzing on Munich's western edge. Once a ducal hunting lodge, it has kept its late Gothic chapel, with stained-glass windows and an altarpiece painted by Jan Polack in 1491. The complex now houses the International Youth Library along with several small museums dedicated to writers such as Michael Ende and Erich Kästner.
