Schloss Matzenbach stands in Fichtenau (Landkreis Schwäbisch Hall), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Matzenbach refers to a former manorial seat, now vanished, located in Fichtenau, in the Landkreis Schwäbisch Hall, Baden-Württemberg. The large rectangular building erected in the 17th century on the site of an earlier residence from 1524 was almost entirely destroyed by fire in 1873, leaving only a corner tower standing. That surviving tower, now known as the bell tower because two bells were installed there in the 19th century, still stands on what is still called the castle courtyard, at the heart of the village.
What to know
- Only a single tower survives from the former castle, known as the bell tower, after the rest burned down in 1873.
- The site lies in the centre of the village of Matzenbach, on an area still referred to as the castle courtyard.
- No opening hours, admission fees or access conditions are documented for this site.
- It is essentially a visible remnant rather than a monument set up for formal visits.
