To make a day of it

Schloss Malberg stands in Malberg (Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Adult admission costs 6 EUR. Its opening hours and prices were verified at the source on October 17, 2026.

Schloss Malberg stands on a rocky spur above the Kyll river, on a site whose name is thought to derive from an old Germanic assembly place. Two medieval strongholds already occupied the hill by the early 11th century, held by one of the oldest noble families of Luxembourg. The present appearance dates from the early 18th century, when an auxiliary bishop of Cologne from the Veyder-Malberg family commissioned the Venetian architect Matteo Alberti to turn the site into a baroque manor. Today the gardens can be visited freely during the season, while the interior is only accessible through guided tours.

What to know

  • The gardens are open freely from Easter to 31 October, Sunday to Friday, with no admission charge.
  • The interior can only be seen on a guided tour, offered on Saturdays and, during school holidays, also on Wednesdays.
  • The site is not wheelchair accessible.
  • Dogs are not allowed inside the Schloss.
  • Schloss Malberg is listed as a Kulturdenkmal in Rhineland-Palatinate.
