To make a day of it
Schloss Liebieg stands in Kobern-Gondorf (Landkreis Mayen-Koblenz), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Liebieg stands on the Moselle riverside at Gondorf, on the site of a medieval Niederburg that was rebuilt as a neo-Gothic residence in the 19th century. Its present appearance dates from a reconstruction carried out in 1859/60 by architect Vincenz Statz for the Clemens family, later extended around 1900 with a neo-Romanesque wing added by the von Liebieg family, who gave the estate its current name. The grounds were also the site of archaeological excavations led by Angelika von Liebieg, who uncovered close to 1400 graves from the Migration Period. The castle remains private property today, used for events and for displaying antiques, art and furniture.
