To make a day of it

Schloss Kislau stands in Bad Schönborn (Landkreis Karlsruhe), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.

Schloss Kislau stands in Bad Schönborn, in the Landkreis Karlsruhe, on the site of a medieval stronghold of which only the massive Romanesque keep survives, now enclosed within the later baroque main building. The lordship of Kislau is documented as early as the 11th century, and the estate later belonged to the prince-bishops of Speyer for more than four hundred years. Prince-bishop Damian Hugo von Schönborn had the ruined castle rebuilt as a hunting lodge in the early 18th century, giving it its present appearance with a courtyard of honour and a distinctive pyramidal roof. The building is now used as a prison, which shapes any possibility of visiting it.
