To make a day of it
Schloss Jesberg stands in Jesberg (Schwalm-Eder-Kreis), in Hesse, Germany. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Jesberg, also known as the Maximilianschloss, stands at Jesberg, below the hill once crowned by the old Burg. Built in 1723 as a summer residence for a prince of the House of Hesse-Kassel, it shows a plain facade under a mansard roof, with a projecting garden front and a balcony. Over the centuries the building served many purposes before being thoroughly restored in 2006 and converted into senior housing, a community space and a library.
What to know
- The building today houses senior housing, a library and a community meeting space, it is not a museum open to visitors in the usual sense.
- No opening hours or admission prices are available for this site.
- The original Dutch-style garden and its former deer park no longer exist.
- Only one of the two original outbuildings still survives today.
- The Schloss stands below the hill crowned by the old Jesberg Burg, which should not be confused with it.
