Schloss Himmighausen stands in Nieheim, in the Kreis Höxter, in North Rhine-Westphalia. Building began in 1714 for Karl Heinrich von Donop as a three-wing complex, but the project was abandoned when funds ran short, leaving only one side wing and a stub of the main house. Around 1890 the building was substantially remodeled and given a large mansard roof, while the adjoining courtyard still holds two late 17th-century gate pavilions and former stable buildings. Passed through various owners by inheritance, gift and sale over the centuries, the estate has more recently had its manor house and landscape garden restored.
