Schloss Herrnfehlburg stands in the hamlet of the same name, part of the municipality of Rattiszell in Lower Bavaria. The present building, a plain rectangular two storey structure with a tall hipped roof, has a late medieval core beneath its restrained rural Baroque appearance. It is joined to the chapel of St Thomas, whose nave retains fourteenth and fifteenth century fabric while the choir and sacristy date from the Baroque period. Ownership passed through a long line of noble and patrician families before the estate came to the Ettl family in 1806, who still hold it today.
