To make a day of it

Schloss Haselbach stands in Tiefenbach (Landkreis Passau), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

Schloss Haselbach stands in the middle of the village of Haselbach, forming part of a complex that also includes a brewery still in operation today. The present building, with four wings arranged around an arcaded inner courtyard, dates largely from a reconstruction completed in the early eighteenth century following the destruction of the Thirty Years' War. An older element survives at the northwest corner: a round rubble-stone tower with a conical roof, the last trace of the site's medieval defences. The schloss is not open to the public, so any visit is limited to viewing it from outside.

What to know

  • The schloss cannot be visited, the interior is closed to the public.
  • Only the exterior facade and surrounding area can be viewed from the village.
  • The site also houses a working brewery, which is separate from any visit to the building itself.
  • The building is listed as a Baudenkmal in Bavaria.
