To make a day of it

Schloss Gottesaue stands in Karlsruhe (Karlsruhe), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 16th century. No visits are on record for this building.

Schloss Gottesaue stands in the Oststadt district of Karlsruhe, on the grounds of a Benedictine abbey founded in 1094. Destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries, the current structure owes its five towers and Renaissance appearance to construction carried out between 1588 and 1597 for Margrave Ernst Friedrich of Baden-Durlach, to designs by Johannes Schoch. After being reduced to ruins by an air raid in 1944, the building was reconstructed from 1982 onward, with surviving sections of old masonry left visible in the facades. It now houses the Karlsruhe University of Music.
