First recorded in the 13th century as Novum Castrum Eberstein, the site still bears traces of that era in its shield wall and the stump of its keep. Rebuilt as a neo-Gothic residence in the early 19th century under the grand-ducal House of Baden, the castle now houses a hotel and a Michelin-starred restaurant, with its terrace giving views over the middle Murg valley.
