To make a day of it

Schloss Gaußig stands in Doberschau-Gaußig (Landkreis Bautzen), in Saxony, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

Schloss Gaußig stands in Doberschau-Gaußig, in the Landkreis Bautzen, Saxony, at the centre of an English-style landscape park covering some thirty hectares. Built around 1700 in the Baroque style for Rudolph von Neitschütz, it was reshaped around 1800 in a Palladian classical manner by the architect Christian Friedrich Schuricht, who gave it its Ionic-columned entrance hall and painted ashlar-pattern facade. The interior preserves several period rooms, including a mirrored hall, a library and a print room, reflecting the successive Baroque, classical and neo-Renaissance campaigns of alteration.
