The Bildungsgut Schmochtitz Sankt Benno stands on the grounds of a former manor estate near Bautzen, in Saxony, now run as an educational and conference centre of the Diocese of Dresden-Meissen. The present main building dates from a 1990s reconstruction modelled on the original 1770 manor house, which was destroyed in a 1945 bombing raid. Only the estate's chapel survived that destruction and can still be seen today. The surrounding park, reshaped several times since the 18th century between Rococo formality and English landscape style, rounds out the site.
