Schloss Ditzingen stands in the town of Ditzingen on the site of a moated stronghold that dates back to the twelfth or thirteenth century. Built in 1420 by the lords of Gültlingen on the remains of that earlier structure, it was partly destroyed and rebuilt more than once, in the sixteenth and again in the seventeenth century. What survives is an almost square base with three small corner towers, topped by a half timbered upper storey beneath a half hipped roof. The surrounding park, roughly two hectares in size, is open to the public, though the building itself remains in private hands.
