Schloss Clingen stands on the site of a former stronghold west of the village of Clingen, in the Helbe lowlands. Little remains of the medieval Burg apart from its deep, water filled moat, still visible today, while a half timbered building erected between 1542 and 1584 stands to the east of the old fortified site. That building bears the date 1584 carved above its gateway and now houses the municipal administration.
