Schloss Alfter stands in Alfter (Rhein-Sieg-Kreis), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 18th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Schloss Alfter stands on the site of a medieval stronghold that burned down several times, the last time in 1583 during the Cologne War. The present building, a horseshoe-shaped manor house with corner towers, was erected in 1721 for Count Wilhelm von Salm. Its rendered façade, once painted with red ashlar patterns, is now yellow beneath hipped roofs. The surrounding park, redesigned in the 1930s by landscape architect Hermann Mattern, is still divided into several themed garden rooms but remains private and closed to visitors.
