To make a day of it

Oberes Schloss stands in Siegen (Kreis Siegen-Wittgenstein), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Adult admission costs 5 EUR. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The Oberes Schloss stands above the town of Siegen on the summit of the Siegberg, built on the remains of a medieval stronghold first recorded in the 13th century and once shared between the archbishops of Cologne and the counts of Nassau. Rebuilt after a fire in the early 16th century, it later served as a residence for the princes of Nassau-Siegen before passing into municipal use. It now houses the Siegerlandmuseum, whose rooms include the Gothic Hall, a room devoted to Rubens, and a portrait collection of the House of Nassau and Orange.
