Neues Schloss Hechingen stands in Hechingen (Zollernalbkreis), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Neues Schloss stands in Hechingen on the site of an earlier Renaissance palace, the Friedrichsburg, once praised as one of the finest castles in Swabia before its demolition in 1814. Built between 1816 and 1819 as a residence for the princes of Hohenzollern-Hechingen, the classical building was left unfinished and never actually inhabited by the princely family. Only its facade dates from that period, since the interior was rebuilt in 1982 and now houses a local savings bank branch. What visitors see today is essentially the exterior and the adjoining square.
What to know
- The building now houses the offices of a local savings bank, so the interior is not open for touristic visits.
- Only the exterior facade and the adjoining square can be viewed.
- The site is located in Hechingen, in the Zollernalbkreis district of Baden-Württemberg.
- There are no visiting hours or admission fees since this is not a museum-style monument.
