To make a day of it
Koeth-Wanscheidsches Schloss stands in Dirmstein (Landkreis Bad Dürkheim), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.
The Koeth-Wanscheidsches Schloss stands at the edge of the old village core of Dirmstein, arranged around a horseshoe-shaped cobbled courtyard flanked by two former outbuildings. Most of what can be seen today, the main block and its lower side wings, dates from the late Baroque and Classicist periods, built on foundations rebuilt after the village was destroyed in 1689. The estate changed owners several times over the nineteenth century before its recent conversion. It now houses a private clinic, which means the interior is not generally open to visitors.
What to know
- The building now operates as a private clinic, so there is no regular interior visit.
- The courtyard and exterior façades can still be seen from public streets, particularly from Herrengasse.
- The adjoining park north of the Schloss can be walked past without entering the clinic buildings.
- No opening hours, admission fee or visit duration apply, as this is not a touristic site open to the public.
- The site is listed as a Kulturdenkmal in Rhineland-Palatinate, protecting notably the courtyard and façades.
