To make a day of it

Hünenburg Steinbergen stands in Rinteln (Landkreis Schaumburg), in Lower Saxony, Germany. No visits are on record for this building.

The Hünenburg Steinbergen marks the location of a small medieval spur fortification, its remains lying southeast of Steinbergen, a district of Rinteln, on a promontory above the Weser valley. It is thought to be the Stenborch recorded as early as the 12th century, which gave the nearby village its name. What survives today is earthwork rather than masonry: a core area of about 40 by 30 metres and, some 50 metres away, a cross ditch up to three metres deep and seven metres wide. The tip of the spur was destroyed by gravel extraction.
