To make a day of it
Haus Vellbrüggen stands in Norf (Rhein-Kreis Neuss), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Haus Vellbrüggen stands on the bank of the Norfbach stream, at the northern edge of Norf, a district of Neuss. This former fortified Rhenish farmstead, built as a four-winged complex around an inner courtyard, still has its late medieval residential tower from the 14th and 15th centuries, topped with a Baroque slate dome. The site, now home to a company's offices and private housing, can be viewed from the outside, surrounded on nearly every side by a water-filled moat.
What to know
- The site is privately owned, used as company offices and housing, so the interior cannot be visited.
- It can be reached on foot from Norf, along the Norfbach stream, with no difficult terrain.
- It is listed as a Kulturdenkmal in North Rhine-Westphalia, which concerns the building itself, not public access.
- No opening hours, fees or visitor facilities are given, so the interest lies mainly in viewing it from outside.
