To make a day of it
Kaiserpfalz Kaiserswerth stands in Düsseldorf (Düsseldorf), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Kaiserpfalz Kaiserswerth is a medieval ruin located in the Kaiserswerth district of Düsseldorf. Built on an artificial island of the Rhine around a monastery founded in the eighth century, it became an imperial residence under Henry III and was later expanded into a formidable fortress by Frederick Barbarossa in the late twelfth century. The surviving remains, including sections of walls and ruined towers, mostly date from this later building phase. The site bears witness to several centuries of Holy Roman Empire history, marked by imperial visits, sieges and repeated destruction.
