Burg Wildenstein is a ruined castle set on a rocky spur at 625 metres above the Eschach valley, near the hamlet of Horgen in the municipality of Zimmern ob Rottweil. Founded in the 12th century, the site had already been used in prehistoric times, as shown by pottery fragments found there. Visitors can still make out the remains of a square keep with notably thick walls, along with traces of several ditches that once split the fortified area into three sections. Together with Burg Rotenstein facing it across the river, it once guarded a strategic stretch of the road between Rottweil and Villingen.
