To make a day of it
Wasserschloss Glatt stands in Sulz am Neckar (Landkreis Rottweil), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Adult admission costs 5.5 EUR. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Wasserschloss Glatt rises from a restored moat pond in the village of Glatt, a district of Sulz am Neckar. It ranks among the oldest Renaissance castles in southern Germany and one of the few surviving moated castles in Baden-Württemberg. Three wings and four corner towers frame a courtyard, entered through a gate tower built in the early 16th century on the site of the old drawbridge. Now owned by the town, the building houses a cultural and museum centre.
What to know
- The site combines several museums: a farming museum, a castle museum on the village and lordship's history, a nobility museum with an armoury, and a regional art gallery.
- The castle stands on a platform surrounded by water, so reaching it involves crossing bridges around the moat.
- The castle park contains a notable lime tree whose trunk circumference exceeded 7 metres in 2014.
- No verified information is available on opening hours, admission fees or accessibility, so visitors should check in advance.
