The Ältere Burg Herrenzimmern, also known as Obere Burg, consists of the remains of a fortification in Herrenzimmern, a district of the municipality of Bösingen. According to the Zimmern chronicle, an upper and a lower castle already existed at Herrenzimmern in the second half of the 11th century. The upper castle was destroyed between 1077 and 1080 and suffered further damage during the Thirty Years' War. Today only a ditch cut into the rock survives on the western side of the site.
