Burg Herrenzimmern stands in ruins on a rocky spur above a side valley of the Neckar, in the municipality of Bösingen. Once held by the lords, later counts, of Zimmern, the castle was rebuilt several times before falling gradually into decay from the late 16th century onward. Visitors can still make out the layout of a structure that combined a stone lower level with timber-framed upper floors, a building style also found elsewhere in Swabia. The site is now cared for by a local heritage association.
