To make a day of it

Burg Seelbach (Lohra) stands in Seelbach (Lohra) (Landkreis Marburg-Biedenkopf), in Hesse, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

Burg Seelbach is a former hilltop fortification, now vanished, perched on a wooded summit some fifty metres above a stream valley near the village of Seelbach. What survives is a faint circular earthwork with a neck ditch running out at its southwest and northeast ends, covering a modest area of about eighteen by twenty-eight metres. No written record names its builders or explains its purpose, and the dating to around 800 rests entirely on the artefacts recovered there. It is a quiet, archaeological site rather than a built monument, of interest mainly to those drawn to the earliest fortified settlements of Hesse.
