To make a day of it
Burg Schweinsberg stands in Stadtallendorf (Landkreis Marburg-Biedenkopf), in Hesse, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.
Burg Schweinsberg stands on a small basalt outcrop above the former town of Schweinsberg, now part of Stadtallendorf in Hesse. Founded around 1230 by a knight serving the Landgraves of Thuringia, it was substantially enlarged in the late 15th century, before parts of its fortifications were destroyed in the 17th century and later ordered demolished by Landgravine Amalie Elisabeth. What visitors see today owes much to a 19th century neo-Gothic remodelling, which gave the Kemenate its current romantic appearance. The site has remained connected to the Schenck zu Schweinsberg family for nearly eight centuries.
