Burg Schellenberg is a medieval ruin perched at 826 metres on a granite outcrop in the forests of the Upper Palatinate. Founded in 1347 by the lords of Waldau, it was destroyed in 1498 during the Guttenberg feud and never rebuilt. What remains today are sections of the polygonal keep's walls, reached via a wooden footbridge, plus a small lookout tower with views toward the Flossenbürg ruin and the Parkstein. The site can be visited freely, set deep in woodland away from restored castle circuits.
