To make a day of it

Burg Schallodenbach stands in Schallodenbach (Landkreis Kaiserslautern), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

The Burg Schallodenbach no longer exists as a standing structure: what remains of this former stronghold, built around 1200 by the lords of Odenbach, has been incorporated into houses in the village of Schallodenbach. Extended in the 14th century and converted into a Schloss between 1530 and 1550, it was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War and finally torn down in 1804 to be used as a stone quarry. It was the seat of the lordship of Schallodenbach, which included several neighbouring villages under the Sickingen family.
