Burg Roden is a ruined hilltop castle on a plateau of the Süntel range, within the Amelungsberg massif and inside the Hohenstein nature reserve. Built between 1130 and 1140 by the counts of Roden to extend their power toward the Weser valley, it now survives mainly as faint wall remains surrounded by a still visible rampart and ditch. The site is best approached as a walking and archaeology destination rather than a restored monument.
