Burg Riedheim stands at the eastern edge of the village of Riedheim, at the corner of Burgstraße and Turmstraße, within the municipality of Hilzingen. Built between the 13th and 14th centuries for the lords of Randegg, it consists of a rectangular enclosure roughly 38 by 27 metres surrounding a tall residential tower with late Gothic stepped gables. The tower rises 27 metres over four storeys and retains its raised entrance, a typical defensive feature of medieval keeps. Ownership passed through several hands over the centuries, from the Randegg family to the Margraves of Baden, before the village itself acquired the castle in the 19th century.
