Burg Ramsberg stands on a rocky spur south of Donzdorf, one of two ridges of the Rehgebirge that face each other, the other carrying Burg Staufeneck. Built around 1200, it retains a thirteenth century hall with cross-ribbed vaulting spread over nine bays and four octagonal pillars, a layout with few parallels north of the Alps. The site also includes a late Gothic chapel raised in 1560 and restored after a fire in the 1960s. The stone residential building erected between 1560 and 1580 now shapes the overall appearance of the castle, which belongs to a private stud farm today.
