To make a day of it

Burg Ohsen stands in Emmerthal (Landkreis Hameln-Pyrmont), in Lower Saxony, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

Burg Ohsen stands in Hagenohsen, part of the municipality of Emmerthal, on a site that once controlled the crossing of the Weser river along one of the Hellwege trade routes. Built around 1200 by the Counts of Everstein, it lost its former island setting once the eastern arm of the river was filled in. The present buildings combine a three-winged baroque main house, raised on medieval foundations, with two thirteenth-century towers, the keep known as Wittekindsturm and the outer tower called Schwarzes Laster. The site is now privately owned.
